What Tankguard 412 is for
Tankguard 412 is a two-component, solvent-free, polyamine-cured epoxy with good chemical resistance. It is a general-purpose lining for potable water, grey water and crude-oil tanks, and for the internal lining of onshore, offshore and buried tanks and pipes.
Jotun's current TDS says it is certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 for potable water and meets NSF/ANSI/CAN 600 criteria. It also states it was tested to AS/NZS 4020:2018 and meets ANSI/AWWA C210-15. A drinking-water approval always comes with conditions. Before a lining goes into potable service, we'll get the current certificate and its scope from Jotun.
Typical applications
- Potable water, grey water and crude-oil tanks
- Internal lining of onshore, offshore and buried tanks and pipes
- Carbon steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel and concrete substrates
Limitations to check
- Potable-water suitability applies only within the certified scope and the cure and application conditions on the certificate. It isn't automatic for every tank, pipe size or water temperature.
- Immersion limits: seawater 50 °C continuous / 60 °C peak; crude oil 70 °C / 80 °C. Other chemicals must be checked against Jotun's resistance list.
- As a solvent-free lining it needs suitable equipment and application control. Follow the Application Guide.
