What Chemflake Special is for
Chemflake Special is a glass-flake-reinforced vinyl ester. It is not an epoxy. This ultra-high-build, fast-curing barrier coating is made for severe chemical exposure and mechanical wear, and works as primer, intermediate or finish in atmospheric and immersed service.
It suits acidic conditions and areas that are hard to maintain: chemical tanks, flue-gas ducts, cooling towers, wastewater installations, concrete bunds and pressure vessels.

- Internal lining of chemical tanks and pipes (onshore, offshore and buried)
- Flue-gas ducts, cooling towers, funnels and wastewater installations
- Carbon steel, stainless steel and concrete
Limitations to check
- Check chemical-specific immersion limits against Jotun's Protective Product Resistance List. The seawater figures are not universal limits.
- Seawater immersion 85 °C continuous / 90 °C peak (peak one hour). Dry 160 °C continuous / 180 °C peak.
- Applied very thick (600–1,000 µm). Curing shrinkage means the practical spreading rate is lower than the theoretical figure.
