Overview

What Solvalitt is for

Solvalitt is a one-component, physically drying silicone acrylic. It gives a heat-resistant finish for hot steel in dry atmospheric service up to 600 °C continuous. It can be used as primer, intermediate or finish coat.

Typical jobs include hot pipework, exhausts, stacks and heat-exchanger exteriors, and colour-coding of hot lines. It is compatible with Jotun's Jotatemp range.

Typical applications

  • Hot steel in dry atmospheric service up to 600 °C
  • Properly prepared carbon steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel and aluminium
  • Identification colours on hot pipework

Limitations to check

  • Dry atmospheric service only. Not for immersion.
  • Jotun's product page describes it for non-insulated surfaces. The current TDS also allows it as a finish coat on insulated surfaces, but only in systems with suitable primers. For insulated or CUI-risk assets, we'll confirm the full Jotun system first.
  • Pigments can change colour on heating without loss of performance.
  • Solvalitt Alu and Solvalitt 600 are separate products with their own data sheets.

Get the system right

A coating performs as part of a system: surface preparation, primer, build coats and finish. Send us the specification, substrate and exposure. We'll confirm whether Solvalitt is the right Jotun product, what goes with it, and the availability and lead time for collection in Henley on Klip or delivery around the Vaal Triangle and Johannesburg South.
